Lesson 9 - Lower Pocket

Please refer to Page 3 LOWER POCKETS as well as these directions.
Once again you must realize that the upper edges of the pockets are raw edges and must be finished accordingly. Finish these raw edges as you did the upper pocket edge in the previous lesson.

Follow the directions provided in the direction sheet in steps 8 through 14.

Pockets that hands are apt to be parked in, tend to get more wear then other pockets. One of the ways to reinforce these top edges is by placing a bar tack at the top of the pocket. To make a bar tack you will need zig zag capabilities. Set the width of the zig zag stitch and shorten the stitch length.

If you do not have a zig zag you may want to make a small triangle of stitches as shown in the diagram to reinforce the top of the pocket.
