Halloween Sewing

Most children are now back in school. This is no time for the sewing machine to rest though. Before we know it Halloween will be here and sewing is the best way there is, to make sure your child has the best costume at any party.
There is no better time of year for expanding our creativity. Halloween is the one time of year that kids want to be different and it gives us the opportunity to expand our creativity to any level we want to take it too.
School shoes, back packs, clothes and school supplies ran a small fortune so how can we purchase what we need to make the most exquisite costume possible. Have you ever priced a wedding gown at the local thrift store verses making it from all new materials? By following the suggestions in Economical Fabric Sources, your costume designs can take on a very expensive appearance. Clearance and bargain fabrics from internet sources or your local fabric store are also an excellent resource for costumes. Even if the fabric is not high quality, these costumes are usually used once and put in storage for years. Spending a fortune on fabrics is not a feasible option for something that will be worn once. Even if we try to convince ourself that "little Johnny" can wear it next year, odds are that character will be out of style or that will not be what he wants to be. Take it easy on the budget and save the money for Christmas crafts and projects.
A thrift store fur coat can be transformed into a great costume, which may become your child's favorite pajamas for cold winter nights ahead. A latex and fur mask, topped of with fake fur pajamas, can look like it came from the most expensive costume shop.
